Well, I finished HP last night..quite a marathon. I'm still not sure how I feel about it. It was very dark. There could've been a bit of editing, but maybe a second reading will bring it back into perspective. I must admit a certain frenzy to finish the book to see what happens, a more leisurely read might have been better.:) When DH has finished I will read it again. In the meantime I have the book tapes to listen to :) I don't think there has been much "americanisation" this time, at least not from what I've heard so far :) The Canadian editions of the book are the same as the British, but the tapes are the American version. I'll never understand why they have to have a different book cover for the different countries either..it's the same with another of our favourite authors, Terry Pratchett. The jackets for his books published in America are so totally lacking in imagination and so gawdawfully dull I'm not surprised they don't sell well, yet he is probably the best living satirist published today :( Until JK Rowling, TP has been the only author to have conventions devoted soley to his work, and at any one time there are stage versions of his books all over Britain and Australia...but I digress :( Those of you still slogging through HP..the ending is quite spectacular :) Sharon on sunny Vancouver Island
