Margery, you might remember that, when we had the "advertising" discussion earlier in the year, Lori the Lacefairy offered to run an Arachne Newsletter mailing list.
This monthly Newsletter was to be news from anyone with something to sell to other members of Arachne, and we were given the option of subscribing to it. The fact that I've never received anything from the Newsletter suggests to me that "advertising" is not such a problem on Arachne as some people think ... we are not being inundated with advertisements on the regular list, and presumably, there have not been enough submissions to Lori for her to post even a single Newsletter, let alone a monthly one. There's the main list, for technical stuff (like Lace), there's the Off-Topic list for gossip (like Lace-Chat), and there's the "Swap" list for all swaps, raffles, adverts etc which aren't allowed on the other two. People can advertise all they want on the swap list, and it gets really interesting sometimes. And if you don't want to read adverts you just don't subscribe to that list. Simple. I wonder if it's worth suggesting that extra split here? I know some people here feel strongly on both sides of the fence ... http://mobile.yahoo.com.au - Yahoo!
