Hi everyone The windup lamp and radios developed in ZA are called 'freeplay.' The one we have can be powered by winding up or by plugging in to charge from an electrical source. The drawback is they aren't completely foolproof - the one we have was found in a secondhand shop, not operational...my fixer DH fixed it (v. satisfying) - a drive belt had come off its path and the overwinding by a previous user had to be corrected.
