I've just been making the pattern pieces for what is basically a cover for the cushion for a monks settle. As a novice - I can machine sew, did a fair bit of dress making many moons ago but have never done any upholstery work - I'm not sure how to construct the sides of the cover. The cushion is only 2cm deep (it's rectangular in shape and the filling is foam) and is going to have cord sewn into the top seam. Is it better to have seams at all four corners of the cushion i.e. making it sharply right angled or is it better to have joins halfway down the sides where they will be hidden by the sides of the settle?
BTW a monks settle is a high backed and sided bench where the seat forms the lid for a storage space. The cushion serves to pad it and hide the hinges for the lid. Are there any upholstery experts out there who can give an opinion? jenny barron Scotland To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace-chat [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
