I'm glad you're safe, now the decision has been made. It was always going to be a difficult decision, since, as you say, somebody will be affected either way, and most of us want the convenience of air-travel without the inconvenience of an airport on our doorstep. I was glad they weren't going to expand Heathrow in the near future, until I heard they are going to allow more flights from there. I live in south-east London, and the air-space above us is used for Heathrow traffic when the wind is in a certain direction. I'm occasionally woken up by aircraft noise, but it's nowhere near as bad as people in west London have to suffer. And we get London City airport planes as well. There must *somewhere* in the middle of the nowhere where they could build an airport that wouldn't inconvenience anyone!
