After more than 18 months of blight and uncertainty the minister for transport, Alistair Darling, has announced today in the House of Commons that proposals to build a new hub airport on green field land at Cliffe on the Hoo Peninsular have been rejected.
Of course, whilst that is terrific news for the thousands of people here on the peninsular, including us, who would have lost their homes should the proposals have gone ahead, it's obviously not such good news for all those folk who live near the other airports across the UK, especially in the Stanstead area, who will have to endure airport expansion on their doorsteps.
