I suppose this piece of lace could give the impression of being Maltese from the triangular shapes that make up the cross motifs which do look *vaguely* like Maltese crosses at first glance, but since when did the Maltese cross have 6 arms? It's obviously been cut from a larger piece of lace which would suggest some kind of machine made.
