Again, apologies - I only move in Orthodox Jewish circles and no they don't have little timers but whenever I've gone to a social gathering and they find out I'm a gentile this comes up as a topic - I don't know why, it can't be generational (as in our family it was my grandmother who loved to talk about how bad it was during the war but she is long dead and these people are usually my parents age or mine). I was not being anti-semetic but making an observation on the people I meet. Just as I would not be racist to say that I worked with an Afro-Caribean girl who spent 18 months working me and accusing all the white people in our office of having been the cause of slavery. I think that what I was trying to say was that I take responsibility for all my actions, just as I ask everyone else to do. But, I am not able to take responsibility for the world's actions before I was able to do anything about it. If I see injustice I will act upon it but I am human and I cannot single handedly save the world however, together we can change the world. On a light hearted note, as I drove Tame Aussie into work this morning he was telling me that an Aboriginal 'Chief' once told him he was 'bad karma'. I said 'why?, because you are blond haired and blue eyed?' and he said, 'heck, no. Because I'm a mean b**s**d to everyone who breaks the law'. What a can of worms I opened - I think it's time to put my tin opener away.
