As this thread is still around is there anyone out there in arachne-land who
can answer my question.

We don't have a television anymore because a couple of years ago when the
license was due for renewal, we worked out that the previous year's two or
three
programmes we had watched had cost us about 30 each. We decided we would
rather have the space in the room! However, when I bought my new computer
last
year I had it fitted with a DVD read/write and we have a couple of times
watched a DVD film.

My question is, how can I transfer some of the videos that I have to DVD.
For example, I have an excellent video on Irish lace of all sorts which I
recorded in the 1980s, and a video of me with my pony about 8 years ago. I
have two
video players/recorders but they are both 10years plus old so I don't know if
they are suitable for connecting in some way to the computer.

So I guess what I need to know is what software I need, where in the computer
the video has to be connected to and what specifications the video player has
to have? Or is there anyway I can watch my videos through my computer screen
without breaking the UK TV licensing laws? This would be useful anyway so I
can see which ones I want to transfer to DVD.
