I went to my local Tesco store last evening, and was instructed to enter my PIN (it isn't 'PIN number' because PIN means 'Personal Identification Number') on their new 'Chip and PIN' keypad. I refused on the grounds that the keypad isn't shielded sufficiently to stop someone standing close by (which is common when the store's crowded) from, if not seeing, then working out what numbers I'd be pressing from my hand movement. I was told that I could sign the sales slip for now, but after Christmas I'd have to use the keypad. My reply was that Oh, no I wouldn't unless they improved the shielding, and that if they wouldn't accept a signed slip, I'd either use a cheque or cash, or, more likely, shop elsewhere. I've put my views in writing to the management as well.
I know I'm getting more like Victor Meldrew each day, but I think I'm right. Jean in Poole To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace-chat [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
