I recently replaced my microwave oven for the same reason - peeling enamel inside. As they're now so cheap, I bought a combination stainless steel one (why doesn't it spark inside?) with a grill. I've had it for about 8 months, and I haven't used the grill once. As there was only about GBP10 pounds difference in price, I decided to get the combination, because, at the price I paid, it doesn't matter if I don't use the grill, but it's a standby. I've got a very good low level double oven gas cooker with the top oven doubling as a grill, and I use that, purely because I'm used to a gas grill.
The combination does have the advantage that you can microwave food and then grill it to give it colour in one setting of the controls, but I don't use my microwave for that kind of thing - mainly for vegetables, and you don't grill them - at least I don't.
