i don't think your illogical at all. there is nothing wrong with
putting your name out for business contacts.  it's very nice that a lot
of these lacers on this website put thier private info in thier emails.
  most of the ones that chat the most on these forums are lace teachers
and they are used to doing lectures and traveling to lace museums with
a group.  they also have many websites that they upkeep on lace
history.  

lace is a hard business to get business for these days, and any one
working in specialty crafts like that have to travel or take out of the
area business.  i'm sure there is plenty of work local, but nothing
like you could get if you put the word out around some of the nearest
towns.
