The small children at the local riding stables had difficulty remembering people's names, although they could remember the names of the horses and ponies without any trouble at all, so it became the norm that they called the adults by the name of their animal eg Mr Roxy, Mrs Benjy, MrsPuzzle and so on. We all new which adult they were referring to.

We found it very convenient to apply the same principal when we moved here and didn't know any of the neighbours' names. So we have neighbours who include Mrs Rotweiler (who owns a poodle), Mrs Country (who moved here from a farm), Mr Landrover, Mrs Stripey Blinds, Charlie the builder (after 'Coronation Street's builder, although this one's a very nice man), Mrs Tesco (who works there), Mr Trilby (wears one). We've lived here 9 years and still don't know their real names.
