Dear Lise-Aurore,
And then, there's the usage in French, where I am referred to as Madame le
docteur. I'm not to crazy about that, but it is difficult to make people
believe that I'm a Monsieur. I was rather distressed this spring, when
everyone in France seemed to want to call me Mademoiselle. How very
insulting!!!! I did speak up, and insisted on Monsieur.

Having read your complicated email, I now really have no idea what gender you are. I had always assumed you were female, but now am not so sure. I really don't care anyway! To me you're just another lace-maker :) who probably walks on 2 legs and writes English at least.
