I know what you mean, Jean. When I was growing up, NOTHING to do with
Christmas appeared in the stores before Thanksgiving (the 3rd Thursday
in November). And as far as Valentine's stuff, I went to a fabric store
2 days after Christmas to see what holiday fabric was left and on sale
and they already had Valentine's and St. Patrick's Day stuff out!! I
haven't been into any regular stores lately (other than the grocery) but
wouldn't be surprised to see the same in retail stores.

I popped into the supermarket on Friday to get some eggs and bread,

political correctness of not mentioning the word Christmas in case it
offends someone, but I do get annoyed at the commercialisation of it
all. I do know that for that particular person, Christmas is a time to
max out her credit cards, eat until she's sick and get falling-down
drunk - not what it's all about whatever your beliefs.
Anyway, the raffle. Having bought Tim Parker's remaining clearance
stock of paper strings as used in Eva Kortelahti's 'Lace with Paper
Strings', I'm raffling 4 lots each of 4 colours (as they come, no
choice of colours).
