85% seems to be about par. I scored that too - wrong on a couple of the US questions (could a US Arachne enlghten us about Four Corners).
I went splat on Four Corners myself -- never heard the term. My husband -- Virginia born (83yrs ago <g>) and bred -- got that one wrong too, even though he knew what the 4 corners was referring to. Apparently, somewhere in the Mid-West -- where the state borders are just straight lines instead of following natural formations like rivers and mountain ranges (nothing to follow, I guess <g>) -- there's one place where the corners of 4 states touch. But he couldn't remember which 4 it was.
But I'm ashamed to say I got the prime number question wrong as well!
Just about everyone did :) #1 seems a much better candidate, no? My third flop was the distance of the planets in relation to the Sun. Teach me to read *closely* and process the question before answering; self-centeredly, I assumed it was the distance from the *Earth* they were asking for...
Capital of Australia no problem,
Not for me either, though, like in some other cases, it never ceases to bug me that it's not the largest city in the country (or state) that's the capital. It tends to be in the news less so, unless you're following international politics, it's easier to forget/get confused.
So far, I've heard of only one person -- American or not -- who scored 100% and that's my son. But he's one of those kids with phenomenal memory. I remember sitting at an international airport somewhere (London? Frankfurt?) during a layover, when he was about 6.5yo. He'd watch the departure/arrival boards and every city -- not just the capitals -- that came up, he'd call out the country it was in. By the end of half an hour, I had to drag him off to the cafeteria, because he was beginning to embarass me; a small crowd of people gathered and watched the freak perform.
