I was in the post office this morning - posting a couple of parcels of books and most of my overseas Christmas cards.

My books parcels each weighed just over 2Kg, but being printed papers they can go up to 5Kg. The postage on the airmail parcel to Australia was GBP 21.06. The woman in front of me had a similar weight parcel for NZ, ie just over 2Kg, but because it was general items (small Christmas pressies) it was too big to go as a small packet and had to be a parcel, and it cost her GBP 48.00 Ouch!!! She said she going on holiday this evening and just didn't have time to re-pack it as two smaller parcels.

I wonder if you also realize how expensive it is to ship things in general.
