The problem is that they don't think as far as death or injury. I bet you didn't think of what could happen when you pointed a hose at cars, did you David.

A couple of 11 year-olds at the school where I was a teacher went on a spree at another school smashing windows. When asked why they did it, it was because it was fun. As far as they were concerned they were just windows - they didn't think that there could be someone behind the windows who could be injured; that the broken glass would cause damage in the room inside; that it would cost thousands of pounds to replace the windows without the cost of anything damaged inside the room; that someone had to pay for the windows to be replaced - they were just windows and fun to smash.

On a nearby estate the bus company has stopped running buses after 6 pm because feral youths are throwing rocks at the buses. Fortunately the decent adults on the estate shopped those concerned because they wanted their buses back. I think anyone, whatever the age, who throws missiles at vehicles, when caught, should be taken to the morgue and shown the body of someone injured in a car crash. I don't care how much trauma is causes them - it might just stop them doing it again.
