I am officially in mourning - I had always wanted to own copy of the
Britannica and now I can only have an old one.

I love books, it is as
Agnes says, the feel of them.  Nothing compares to the feel when you open a
first edition hardback that you have just bought, smoothed down the first page
and smell the print on the page.

I hoard new books so that when we go on
holiday I can lie in bed with a new book and enjoy it.  With a good book, I
ration the chapters to make them last longer and extend the enjoyment of
holding the book until I finish it.

What makes me strange to kindle people
is that I will happily buy an audio book of a printed book I have read so I
can listen to it in the car and I will also then reread the book in paper
format after listening to it.

Recently I listened to 'What the Grown Ups
were Doing' on Radio 4 - what was my response - I bought a copy for myself and
one for mum to read.

I love films, I love audio books and radio 4 is my
intellectual home but I still love a glossy magazine or a new hardback book.

Kind Regards

Liz Baker

look and feel of a book, rather than reading electronic versions.
