I think the idea would be to go back to how the list used to be, when there
were less than 40-50 messages a day on Arachne. At that point we split off the
"lace day chatter" from the technical, mostly because we were still paying per
second on dial-up, or couldn't easily keep up. For ages now, the volume of
traffic on the two lists hasn't been anywhere near that, and I think most of us
don't pay per second online now.

I have no problem with going back to a single list, (hopefully in both
individual message and digest forms), and agree we can drop lace-chat as a
list; but hopefully still chat about the things we would talk about at a lace
day, as well as the technical stuff, on the new combined one.

Thanks for keeping the Arachne group going, Liz.

Well, I still enjoy what chat is still on it! I have been a member since
it’s inception! I would be sorry to see it disappear! Well, especially lace!
The whole idea of the chat is to keep off topic chatter off the lace list!
Well, if occasional chatter would be ok on lace, then and only then would I ok
closing lace chat down…just my 5 cents worth
