I think the idea would be to go back to how the list used to be, when there were less than 40-50 messages a day on Arachne. At that point we split off the "lace day chatter" from the technical, mostly because we were still paying per second on dial-up, or couldn't easily keep up. For ages now, the volume of traffic on the two lists hasn't been anywhere near that, and I think most of us don't pay per second online now.
I have no problem with going back to a single list, (hopefully in both individual message and digest forms), and agree we can drop lace-chat as a list; but hopefully still chat about the things we would talk about at a lace day, as well as the technical stuff, on the new combined one.
