As I just haven't got enough lace books :-D, I was wondering if any of you
think that it's worth buying 'Kloppeln - Handbuch mit 400 Tricks und
Kniffen' by Ulrike Lohr when I alrady have 'Practical Skills in Bobbin Lace'
by Bridget Cook. Or does it cover the same topics? As it's written in
German, I have to bear in mind that I only speak about three words of
German, and those as if they were written in English.

Hi Jean,

I have this book and find it invaluable because Ulrike exhaustively demonstrates
simple things in an endless variety of circumstances.

For instance, crossing plaits and pairs: pairs from the left and the right, plait in
the middle; one pair, two plaits; one plait two pair; a pair bouncing off a plait and
vice versa.

Another thing I like is equally exhaustive treatments of crossing of large numbers of
pairs. I am very familiar with 'Practical Skill' and use it all the time. (Some of
the clearest Honiton tips I've seen).

I think the books complement each other because each author has a little different
perspective. Oddly, I find 'Kloppeln - Handbuch' very helpful for Beds where plaited
grounds and other tricky bits can conjure up every kind of crossing.
