Thanks to Janice Blair for pointing out the problem of not being able to view one of the mag pages properly with Netscape 4.x. That's been fixed (at least in the English section).

Normally I work on Internet Explorer Mac, and then check with Netscape 4.7 Mac and, if the page is new, Netscape 4.7 and IE 5.5 and 6 on Windows. Because I reuse code I generally assume now that there will be no problems, and if it is late sometimes forget to check, so I do appreciate it when people point out problems. Do email me direct, but let me know whether you are on Windows or Mac (or Linux) and, if you can, what version of the browser you are using (you can get that from the About in the Apple Menu or the Windows Help menu).

Incidentally, Jan's message about Netscape 4.x (NS4) addresses a problem web designers have, which is how long and to what extent to support this browser. NS4 appeared about five years ago when support for a more efficient and powerful web technology, cascading style sheets (CSS), was just starting. Although Netscape implemented some of CSS, its support is only partial and buggy. More modern browsers (Internet Explorer PC 5, 5.5 and 6, Internet Explorer Mac 5.1, and Netscape 6 and 7, Opera and Mozilla on both platforms, OsX Safari) have much better support for CSS. This means one can design more effective web pages that are much easier for the designer to read and to maintain, and can also be read more easily by devices for people with certain disabilities. If you are able to upgrade to a more modern browser I strongly recommend doing so.
I have been considering slowly dropping support for NS4, the user-base of which has shrunk to a few percent. What I intend to do, when I have time, is start to modernize the code on the pages, making sure that they are still viewable on Netscape 4.x, but accepting that their aesthetic standard will drop somewhat (text flush with pictures and text changing style etc.). I hope this will be acceptable as I realize that some people are not able to, or have good reasons not to, upgrade.
