On Saturday, I went to an Antiquarian book fair in the conference center in Kensington ,(west London) and fell in love with one the most wonderful lace book I've ever seen. This was a large sized (11 x 9) copy of the History of Hand Made Lace by Mrs. Nevill Jackson, published in 1900. I have a nice copy of this book in my lace collection in San Jose, but it's nothing compared to this one. This copy has covers of gilt decorated morocco leather, gilt edged pages, more than 200 engravings and 12 beautifully made pieces of lace as examples of the various types of lace mounted in recessed places on special card. The book is in wonderful condition. I swooned over it but also over the price: 750. I think this is about $1300. But it is a BEAUTIFUL book.
