Steph and others, At the moment the FTP link isn't working, but Liz's archives are normally available to the whole world. I don't want to sound paranoid, but you should never, ever assume that what you write on a list is private. Anything that is stored anywhere on the Web is accessible by someone, somewhere, even if it's password-protected. Neither archive is truly protected. If an Arachne is going through a messy custody battle in court and wants to confide to the list about substance abuse problems, then it's wise to use an alias or first name only.
Yahoogroups, BTW, does offer the option of making archives accessible to members only, but that should not be considered real protection, because anyone can join a group as long as its membership isn't "closed." I've accessed archives during Web searches for groups that I don't belong to.
