I was writing a private message to someone about the threads I'm tracking for my upcoming Convention workshop (stranded, high-luster silk for gimp), when I suddenly remembered Zwicky...
I have a few hanks of it, from my pre-lacemaking "persona" and, although they're all in wrong colours for my current needs, it's a thread that would have been ideal otherwise. It's been *years* since I got what I have, and I wondered if the thread was even "alive" still... Feeling *extremely brave* (I have no pioneer spirit, unlike Angela <g> I hope everyone's currently subscribed to chat, where her reports appear daily; nothing textile -- so far -- but fascinating all the same), I googled "Zwicky silk thread"... Came up with a lot of sites that I *wouldn't begin to know* how to pursue further (and wasn't sure I'd want to) but there was one which strongly appealed to the orderly part of my (otherwise butterfly) brain -- it was called a "bank"... <g> So I gathered all my courage and "plunged"...
Wow!... :)
It's not *ideal*, being "driven/sponsored" by individual businesses; but as near as makes no difference, given the amount of information packed into it. I've bookmarked it immediately for "further research". And then thought I'd *share*. Hopefully, y'all (more 'puter-literate than I am) will be able to use the site to better advantage, esp tracking *various* vendors who carry the same product... But several do have direct links to the manufacturer (not Zwicky, alas <g>) which, in turn, give you distribution points...
