There are days when you have to finally make things that were postponed... and postponed. Here I am with 6 lace squares that have been joined but without a filling in the center!
<VBG> Some pieces, I don't even *start*, because I know that once they're finished, they'll have to be "dealt with" via needle and thread...
I have one piece of Dentelles des Pays-d'en-Haut made in silk thread and I am wondering if I should use the same silk thread to make the sewing in 'point turc'.
Since "point turc" is pretty much irrevocable (ie, you can't detach the lace later on if you'd made the hem and the attachment in "one go"), you might as well use silk for the sewing. If you can find silk in the same colour as the lace but finer, it would look better.
All the lace in my P-d-H book is black -- is that how you made yours? I'm not sure about using black for hemming, unless your fabric is ivory/cream. The "pattern" of the "point de turc" would be lovely in itself but, perhaps, a bit too "stark" in contrast? All depends on your personal preferences, of course; me, I like the edges blurred a bit...
Hope this'll show up; I seem to be having a problem with the puter? provider? fate? I post, but don't see the posting. Yet, other people do...
