True, 's Gravenmoer has half stitch with vertical and diagonal threads. However.....the slope of the diagonal is different from Torchon and machine halfstitch. The slope is not at 45 degrees. It's less because it's a denser halfstitch with two rows of action where Torchon (or machine) has one row.
In 's Gravenmoer Lace the diagonal half stitch also is perfectly symmetrical -
while I taught to work from right to left (Hi Alice!!!) it can also be worked
from left to right and you end up with identical results.
