True, 's Gravenmoer has half stitch with vertical and diagonal threads. However.....the slope of the diagonal is different from Torchon and machine halfstitch. The slope is not at 45 degrees. It's less because it's a denser halfstitch with two rows of action where Torchon (or machine) has one row. That brings me back to one point in my previous discussion. A person must learn the 'look' of handmade lace and the techniques used to create certain effects. Armed with this knowledge, machine imitations can often be identified.
