Dear Lacemakers, Tess scanned my book, "Bobbins of Belgium" by Charlotte Kellogg, which I've been told is on CD #2. It describes the efforts to provide relief to lacemakers during WWI. (It also provides some history of the development of the Belgian Color Code.)
Here is the address for the Hoover Library, at which you can view Virtual Exhibits - then Herbert Hoover Galleries, etc. and learn more about these relief efforts. You might also enjoy reading about the collection of embroidered and embellished (sometimes with lace) flour sacks - in which flour was shipped to the starving Belgians during WWI. It is a new entry on the Hoover web site. http://www.hoover.archives.gov/ Jeri Ames in Maine USA Lace and Embroidery Resource Center - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
