"I took a fancy to this set of tapestries when I was living in France in
1979-80, 20 years before my BL days. I was living in Saumur on the banks of
the Loire. Then I did lots of counted thread cross stitch, much before it
gained popularity in the UK.
Saumur had a superb tapestry & embroidery shop which had kits for all the
"lady with the unicorn" tapestries available in various sizes etc. I bought
a book by Alain Erlande-Brandenburg , Conservateur au Musee de Cluny. It
tells the story of a tapestry for each of the 5 senses with the sixth being
the triumph of free will. (The lady puts her necklace in a case at the end.)
I got hooked on the idea of doing a wool tapestry and bought the kit for the
6th piece. It's 1 metre X 1m 35cm and now, after not being touched for the
last 17 years, it's about 1/3 finished! Would anyone like it? (Complete with
DMC wool to finish)"
