In Australia, there are huge distances between very few teachers. To fill the
void, Rosemary Shepherd wrote a series of correspondence lessons. Her book
"Introduction to Bobbin Lacemaking" is based on those lessons. It is a very
clear and detailed instruction book, specifically designed for those who wish
to learn lacemaking, but have no access to a teacher.

Rosemary has just republished the book herself, and you can find details at

It was an earlier version of this book which I used to teach myself lacemaking.

Does anyone have any recomendations for an inexspensive book to help me
with learning how to do this wonderful craft. I think I will have some spare
cash (baby sitting for the New Year Partyers) and I really need some help. I
searched at Dover for Brigette Cooks (cookbook?) practical skills in bobbin
lace. Not there so if anyone has any ideas it will be greatly appreciated.
