Dear Friends in Lace

I would like to know how all the Lace Tutors in the UK are coping with the
amount of paperwork we have to do now for the EU regulations. I took my
Teachers certificate in 1988 after teaching lace for years without it, and
have had 2 classes running for the County Council, in two towns, from
September to May each year, up to 2 years ago, when the one further away was
closed because I didn't have 10 members. This as well as private classes all
year round. I love teaching and did it in an intuiative way,( in other words
did it without analysing what I was doing and saw I was doing it right by the
way my students blossomed and enjoyed their lacemaking. Putiing on displays
and demonstrations and winning competitions with their work.
My remaining class has grown to 14 with some of the ones coming from the other
class. This means all the form filling and writing up takes time and I feel
almost overwhelmed with it . I want to go on teaching for as long as I can
but I know other teachers such as the Lipreading Tutor is just giving up.
Because of the paperwork.

I went on a couse last weekend and was given a Digatal camera to prove
progression through the term. But I now have to find time to learn how to use
it and the PC together with white Boards and find the time to do it in our 2
hour class. I get there early and rarely leave less than 30 mins late. My
head just starts to spin. I just want to teach, help and encourage everyone.

So can anyone give me some encouragement as to how I can get over this anxiety
or make it easier for me.

Peggy
