Like Christine, I have been lurking - Hi Chris! How is hot and sunny Perth?
Have been reading Noelene's letter about mounting. I usually do three sided
stitch. this is quite secure and takes less time than four sided stitch.
Sometimes I have used three rows of Pin Stitch as described by Elsie Luxton in
her Honiton Lace Book. this is time consuming but was worth the effort as both
the lace and the fabric were rather fine.
However, because I also have arthritis and find this hard on the fingers I
have been going to experiment with doing an eyelet edging - using a winged
needle on my sewing machine. I wondered if I could get a nice neat edging and
then slip stitch the lace to the fabric.
Like everything else this is still in the idea stage although I have actually
bought the winged needle. Has anyone tried this? This should perhaps be
similar to the bought hankies that are ready for crochet edgings but - as they
are always very crooked I don't find them acceptable for bobbin lace.
