I took a class (arranged by Angela) where we learnt some basics of Romanian Point from a young Romanian girl. She wasn't the expert at lace, her mother was a full time lace maker, but she knew plenty about it. I'm fairly sure that the design we did had the tapes crossing each other. I've certainly crossed the tapes when making up designs of my own since, and it works OK. If a design can be done with the tapes butted up rather than crossing it will probably look better, but I don't think that this is a hard and fast rule. -- Beware of computer programmers that carry screwdrivers.
