I love being "Southern" and I knew right away what "ornery" meant as I've
heard it used many many times growing up. The first thing that came to my mind
was cantankerous...but I figured that might not help you out too much, so I
looked up ornery in Websters, and found the definition listed as
"cantankerous".
Coming from a family with generations of Georgia farmers, and hill country
South Carolinians, the meaning takes on a feeling of someone who is being
disagreeable for no good reason... like an ornery ol' mule!
In my experience as a lacemaker...it works itself out in those ornery ol'
threads that are supposed to be making perfect leaves, but just won't
cooperate!

Working on Beds...and loving it, leaves and all
