I always thought filet lace and lacis were the same thing, but then there are the variations. For example, there's hand-made vs. machine-made net.
Thanks to everyone for helping with the Lacis/Filet question. I appreciate the responses! So, here's the next question along these lines. Is there a way to tell the difference between the hand-made netting and machine-made netting for Filet? Do both types have that "knot" at the junctions? Or is it more like a "wrap" in the machine variety? In other words, if one has an old piece of Filet, can one tell if the net is handmade or machine made?
Thanks for your patience with these questions! This is actually for the infamous "Tina" book, being published by the Rocky Mountain Lace Guild, (coming this summer!) and we are putting the finishing touches on it and trying to make sure all our attributions and classifications are absolutely correct.
Vasna Zago If you can't be a good example, you'll just have to be a horrible warning.
