I, too, have a job keeping my NL clean. I must have a very greasy thumb!! However, I have made myself a cotton thumb stall, held on by an elastic loop which hooks around the wrist, which I use when working NL. I even have a white cotton glove, but that is only good in the winter. Oz summers are too hot for that! I still manage to get grubby lace!! - but that is not going to stop me making it!!! I also cover finished parts of the lace, with some bits of cotton lawn. I secure it with safety pins from the Underside - so the working thread cannot snag on them. I also sometimes use a cotton lawn piece with a hole in the centre, and just work in the hole. If anyone has any other ideas on how to keep NL clean, while being worked, I would Love to hear them.
