I'd like to hear from anyone who has used YLI silk (on the spool) for bobbin lace.
You've already heard from Sylvia but I'd like to confirm. I've used YLI (100/2) for both PG and Milanese, and was very happy with the way it handled. I used it as a substitute for 80/2 cotton even though it is a tad finer. It doesn't unply on me but then neither does Gutermann. Probably due to different bobbins and different way of handling; I don't know. The only reservations I had about using it for PG was that it has high luster and I prefer my PG to be matte, with the lustrous thread (if any) reserved for gimp. But that's a personal preference.
Be aware that YLI 100 is a 2-ply, while YLI 50 is 3-ply. I have no idea how 50 handles; when I need that size silk, I use Tire (also 3-ply) simply because I have a big stash of it.
