A few of you have been curious about how Clay's getting Beryl's pattern pack - I'm getting it for her. For five of the Arachneans I'm in private contact with who want the pack, I'm paying Beryl, sending it on to them and then being reimbursed through my Paypal account.
I don't want to take on supplying everyone in the US, so, sorry, but I can't do it for anyone else. I don't know what Beryl's intentions are as to using Airmail or Surface mail, and I expect she'll charge for the envelope, but I'll try and ring her tonight to see what she intends and if she's got a postage figure yet. Don't forget that she's making nothing out of selling these packs - everything after printing costs and envelopes and postage is going to the charity 'MacMillan Nurses' to support cancer patients. I understand that so far, with previous projects, she's raised about GBP 5,000 for them in memory of her husband. I'll post to Arachne again after I've spoken to her about postage. She isn't into computers, email or Paypal, and from what she's said, I think that at 80 she thinks she's too old to start, and so far, I haven't persuaded her otherwise. Suggestions on how to get it: Ask someone you know who has a Paypal account to do what I'm doing for friends. I'm actually collecting them personally from Beryl on Friday and sending them on - normally she'll be doing the posting. Get a group together and send a sterling cheque to cover all the copies and postages and have them send to individual addresses - it'll be cheaper to buy one cheque (at least it is here in places where there's a flat charge). Give cash to someone you know who can order it for you at OIDFA (changing foreign cash into sterling is a lot easier than depositing a cheque) If anyone wants to take on distribution in other countries, I'm sure Beryl would be happy to hear from you, but I stress - it's purely for charity and not for profit.
