I know I haven't posted in along time....but I do lurk and read what I find in my
email box. I can attest to what Jeri said about finding lace and what a difference it
looks once it is cleaned up. I had at one time gotten a win on ebay. What I was after
was the tatting shuttle that was included in the lot. I was also after what I thought
was hairpin lace with tatting attached to it. I found out after I got my package in
the mail that the hairpin lace actually had crochet with it....which is the norm. But
what else was in that package was this. For one it came in a cigar box...imagine
that....LOL!! But there was a couple of old hankies in the box. The seller decided to
send me everything as was that was in the cigar box. This was taken from an old
warehouse that was around since the turn of the century. The wearhouse is now being
restored to a theatre. So she happened to get all the goods that was in the building.
I emailed the seller after I found out that one of the hank
 ies that
was in the box actually had a hand done Bedfordshire edging all the way around it. I
believe it is something like a wedding hankie with all of those lovely
tallies...hehe....but I soaked and soaked and soaked that hankie for I did think it
was somekind of handmade lace on the hankie. I did put the picture of the hankie up on
my website asking for experts on lace...which I am not...:( for their opinions. I
found out that it was handmade and it was Bedfordshire lace. That hankie is nice and
clean now and folder and sits in my curio. I feel the hankie was a huge bonus...and I
think if the lady that sold me that cigar box of things in that auction, knew what
that hankie was she might have sold it all by itself...But I have to tell you when I
first saw that hankie it looked yellowed and disgusting...now it is beautiful and
cherished be me even though I have no clue as to who made it, to me it is special for
it was made by somebody.....and it was a true bonus to me....
