This happened to me as well with a Flanders piece. Flanders is usually worked with the footside on the left, but I had actually made a couple of pieces with the footside on the right and it didn't seem to make any difference. Then I picked up an edging pattern from Die Spitze, the magazine of the Deutsche Kloeppelverband. This edging is very unusual because it is not symmetrical. It has a toothed outer edge, like this: |\|\|\|\ I reduced the pattern in the magazine to fit a finer thread, and made a sample. Oh how I struggled with that sample on a couple of straight repeats, and when I got to the corner I just could not make it work at all. I finally figured out that I was working the wrong way with the footside on the right. So I cut off the sample, changed the size of the pattern a little to fit the thread better, and made it again with the footside on the left without any problem. -- Every decent man is ashamed of the government he lives under.
