I am sad to tell you that my friend in Spain, who made beautiful lace with
one hand, died on Saturday. At the time of telling you all about our
difficulties doing one handed sewings I felt unable to tell you all that she was in
fact
dying. Only Eva knew and I asked her to keep it to herself. Thanks Eva.
Lissette continued to make lace until she collapsed at the beginning of July. I
still did the sewings for her. She was only 6 stone when she went into the
hospital. She tried to come home at the beginning of last week but Bob and Lissette
realised they couldn't manage and so she went back to hospital where she died
on Saturday. She was a wonderful lady, always kind, brave and uncomplaining,
except she couldn't do her own sewings! I will miss her greatly. Such friends
are very hard to come by. I was supposed to be helping her but she equally gave
me so much. Vivienne.
