Hi everyone and for Noelene who bought a skein... As mentioned already it is made from coccoon waste, and despite being short stapled weaves up nicely on a handloom into textured cloth. For bobbin lace it would probably work best on an airy pattern, less stress on the fibre from bobbin movement, with some small areas of cloth stitch CTC to show off the texture but not too many features (spiders, leaves, roseground) which would clash with the texture of the thread (too much of a good thing? sample, anyway). I think it would be lovely in a Torchon scarf if care is taken to manage the strands while you are working. I imagine it would untwist easily - if it is only a single ply, go very carefully, though in my experience noils are usually plied - maybe add other stronger 'plain' (in appearance) yarns/threads to the pattern to give some integrity to the lace so you don't end up with a floppy, busy-looking piece that was tricky to make and disappointing in the end. Also test it for strength - if a strand comes apart with a gentle tug, keep that in mind for BL (or not). Try it for tatting! 'hope this helps' bye for now Bev in Sooke, BC (west coast of Canada, back into a summery heat wave)
