If you enter in your State Fair, you may get new people interested. And if you can, demo your lace at your State Fair.
Our (Virginia's) greatest problem is that we do not have a lacemaking group in the Richmond area (or don't know of one). "Popping in" to demonstrate is *out of question* - it's *at least* a 2 hr drive for most of us (closer to 4, especially if you're not a speed-demon <g>)... Having someone in place (or close by) would also help with delivery of entries; sending them to a private individual, who'd then take them in as "bulk" (the way CO does), pick them up and re-send after, would cut down on postage, and might encourage people to enter.
Unfortunately, the last (and only) time I heard from someone in Richmond was from an Arachnean who'd borrowed some books, and then "dropped off the edge"...
But, I still have hopes... <g> Bolstered by the fact that the organisers *did* listen to my recommendations (about cutting down the number of "classes"), I'm hoping they'll allow me to display a "contact list" (IOLI and all the regional groups) alongside the pieces. That might help, if a "stray" member of the public spots the lace part of exhibit and is interested enough to pursue it. *Not* as good as seeing lace *made*, but the best alternative I can think of...
