I have an OTT light (table model) which I love, but I also use a light
bulb which mimics daylight, in an ordinary lamp. For that purpose, I
buy grow lights, which are made to illuminate plants. I would guess the
results are about the same, but the Ott light is portable and useful
when I take a course, go to a convention, etc. I don't use a magnifier
for lace making, yet :-). But I do use it for very fine petit point.
Since I wear glasses, I have magnifiers that clip on them. In the past,
I've use the type that hangs from a cord around your neck and rests on
your chest. Those aren't very successful. A better choice, if you
don't wear glasses, are the ones that are attached to a band that goes
around your head - sort of like a soldering mask.
