I'm making a very small strip of Bucks (Waratah from Elwyn Kenn's Point Ground Patterns from Australia) to go round the top of a little lavender bag. The whole strip will only be about 5 inches long.
Question - how do I join the end back to the beginning to make a continuous strip? The strip is too short to double it back and repin the end at the top and sew together normally. It's not a competition piece or needing to be done in a "traditional" fashion. I thought of doing an extra repeat of the pattern and overlapping, but maybe that would be too bulky on such a tiny item. My only idea is to finish off across the end (which is on a straight diagonal) like they do with Brugges lace, with the row of single knots down and back up, then cut all the threads short after I had whipped the two ends together. Any other ideas?
