Hi All, I made a "motif" that I've been wearing to different events and
wore it to DH's work Christmas party two weeks ago. One of his co-workers
asked if I'd made the piece I was wearing and I only gave him a short lesson
in lace <G>. I didn't think to take the photocopy I have of "How to make
Battenberg Lace", I also have one for classic NL.

The piece is about 4"x8" (10x20cm) and it's from a pattern from a 1904 issue
of "Home Needlework" magazine. In the magazine there are four motifs
forming the outside of a doily. It's called Passion Flower and has a flower
in the middle with swirls coming out of both ends. I made it in some really
glittery gold metallic tape with gold metallic and silk thread. Quite
stunning if I do say so myself!

I tack (with thread) it to a black top to show it off. I also wear some of
my classic NL pieces though I do wear those on colors. So I agree with
Devon that we should wear more lace!! Actually at the Convention and in
Ithaca people wear lots of lovely lace in interesting ways - it doesn't all
have to be Peter Pan collars <G>. Catherine Barley has a wonderful chiffon
jacket with hand painted flowers and appliqued NL petals on it - "Venetian
Gros Point" Lace by Nenia Lovesey and Catherine Barley. While trying to
find the citation I also saw lots of lace to wear in "The Technique of
Needlepoint Lace" and Creative Design in Needlepoint Lace" both by Nenia
Lovesey.

Jane in Vermont, USA thinking about the lovely wearable art lace I've seen
<G>.
