Happy New Year All!

What an exciting surprise I received for Christmas - DD brought home the new
Lace book from Japan by Ichiko Mitsuhira. It is a lovely book with 6 wide
Torchon edgings, a section of basic lessons and then several Russian tape lace
mats. There is a sampler with each section identified with a letter with
matching working diagrams in the pages following. There is also a pattern for
a lace flower which is used to make a long runner or a shaped bowl. The bowl
is calling to be my first project for a birthday gift to give to a lace friend
in March (vbg) There is no English except for in the Torchon patterns where
it says they are to be worked in Bockens 60/2. I can't see any thread
suggestions for the Russian lace but it would have to be quite fine because
the tape area is very narrow. I am looking forward to an enjoyable time
working some of these new patterns. My DD was delighted when she found it in
the bookstore - she had been looking all year for another lace book for me!
Now if she could only come across some silk threads! She and DH return to
Shodoshima on Wednesday for one more year of teaching English.

I certainly enjoyed seeing the Christmas card exchange items - I will make a
point to join the fun next year!

Best Wishes for 2005
