My interpretation of the Rijksmuseum website is that the museum is still largely closed. It claims the renovation will be going on until 2008, but in the mean time it has an exhibit of its masterpieces. I was in Amsterdam last year when this was also the case. It is well worth going to the Rijksmuseum and when it has distilled its entire collection down to the best things it is a pretty heady experience, short and intense. There are a lot of portraits and busts with lace on them and photography without flash is permitted. I found that the most interesting thing from a lace standpoint. I don't recall seeing any lace. They do have a lace collection so admirably illustrated in 75 x Lace, but I think special arrangements would have to be made to see any of it. Devon
