Hello all Spiders, A trip to the quilting store that I knew carried Mettler 50/3 silk finish thread has me questioning you all. I found the thread color I needed but in checking it, I noticed it said only 50 on the spool, not 50/3. Questioned the sales clerk who couldn't answer if it was 50/3 or something different. Went to the owner of the store [ and purchaser of goods] asking what exactly was this thread size. Assured it was 50/3, just a newer supply, I purchased it. The thread being wrapped but through the wrapper it looked similar in size. After getting home and opening the wrapper and really comparing the thread with a spool of marked 50/3 under a magnifying glass, I discovered the new thread was thicker and stiffer than the old Mettler thread. Looking closer at the new spool it said 'made in Spain', not Germany as it should have said. Has anyone else discovered this? Is this what has become of Mettler 50/3 thread? Will we get the made in Germany thread anymore?
